Bethany’s spiritual direction is overseen and led by a board of elders, which includes our senior pastor. And, Bethany’s financial and operational aspects are overseen and led by a board of deacons or governing board. 

Dividing the responsibilities along these lines is both true to the teaching of Scripture, and makes effective use of the various spiritual gifts among our leaders. 

Jesus Christ is Our Head

Jesus Christ is the center and head of Bethany (1 Peter 5:4; Hebrews 13:20; Ephesians 1:22-23; Colossians 1:18, 2:10, 18, 19).

The essence of the elders' responsibility is to seek His direction in overseeing, guiding and caring for the spiritual needs of the church, while the deacons’ responsibility is to carry out the financial and operational aspects to ensure that the material needs of the facility and its people are effectively cared for. 

Pastoral Staff

Our pastoral staff are responsible for equipping the people of Bethany for serving and ministering to each other and to our community. 

In the Bible in Ephesians 4:11-13 we read: "It was Jesus Christ who gave some in the church to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers to equip God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ might be built up."
