sCool Kids

grades one to five

| live it out |

We want your kids to be excited about coming to church! We also want to partner with you to help your family ‘live it out’ the rest of the week.

sCool Kids is our Sunday morning program for Grades 1-5. At sCool Kids, children learn Biblical truths in an engaging, age-appropriate way, and build quality friendships with other kids and adult and youth leaders.

Key Scripture

"You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise." Deuteronomy 6:7 ESV

252 Basics

We use 252 Basics curriculum. Deriving it’s name from Luke 2:52 (And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men), the curriculum is built around three Basic Truths. Before kids head off to Grade 6, we want to make sure these things stick:

  1. Wisdom: I need to make the wise choice.
  2. Faith: I can trust God no matter what.
  3. Friendship: I should treat others the way I want to be treated.

The Three Basic Truths are amplified through monthly virtues (such as Kindness, Respect and Initiative) and 150 Bible stories. Every week there is a key TRUTH or bottom line that we drive home. It's the ONE THING we want kids to understand and grab onto during their hour at sCool Kids.

| format |

The format of a typical Sunday morning is:

1. Dismissal

Dismissal from the sanctuary.

2. Small Group

Kids head to small (grade) groups. Grades 4 and 5 are just off the foyer in rooms 123A and 123B. Grades 1 to 3 are upstairs in the CE wing.

3. Welcome

Small group leaders greet children at their classroom where they participate in an activity designed to introduce the bottom line, we want kids to remember that morning.

4. Large Group Bible Story & Worship

Kids move to the Castle Room for teaching time and singing. We use costumes, props, and audience participation to help the Bible come to life. We also include time each week for kids to sing out loud and tell God how much they love Him.

5. Small Group

Back at the small group classroom kids learn how how the day's bottom line fits into their everyday life. Small group leaders are serious about fun and passionate about teaching the TRUTH. We want kids to see how God's word fits into their lives, to learn how to talk to Him, and to build friendships that will last.

6. GodTime (for Kids)

Before they head out, kids receive GodTime cards to help them bring it home. These weekly devotions encourage kids to read the Bible and talk to God at home. We want our kids to establish a lifelong habit of spending time with God!

7. Fridge Door Cards

Parents receive a weekly email containing information about the day and upcoming events and initiatives as well as a graphic card that gives them ideas to start conversations around the day’s topic at home.
