Support Teams

Volunteers are a vital component of the Pastoral Care Ministry at Bethany Chapel; we are very thankful for the tremendous contribution they make.  The following Ministries are under the supervision of the Parish Nurse / Pastoral Care Team and the volunteers serving in these ministries play a major role in serving the church body and fulfilling the above responsibilities.

1. Visitation Team

Visitation team members are involved in long-term, short-term or even one-time visitation for prayer, encouragement, friendship and fellowship. The Parish Nurse / Pastoral Care team will match up people within the body who require visits with those who desire to visit. If you would like to hear more about joining the Visitation team, or if you or someone you know would appreciate a visit, please contact us.

 2. Health Ministry Support Team

The Health Ministry Support Team provides care to those with various health related issues who would benefit from a one-on-one support over a longer period of time. The support person commits to prayer, encouragement, discipleship, practical suggestions and a listening ear. Please call us for more information or to arrange for an interview to discuss your interest and involvement.

 3. Multimedia Ministry

Each Sunday the sermon from our 10:45 am service is recorded on a CD. The recorded sermon is then made available free of charge as a ministry to those within the church family who are unable to get out to attend the regular Sunday Services.  For more information about this ministry, or if you or someone you know would benefit from receiving these CDs, please call the church office and advise us.

 4. Helping Hands

Helping Hands is a service ministry for those who might require practical help with odd jobs, repairs, small moves or home maintenance.  Please contact the church office if you could use assistance in one of these areas. If you have skills and abilities that could serve in this ministry and you are available as a volunteer to help, please give the office a call.

5. Funeral Teas

If there has been a death within your family and you would like to make arrangements for pastoral care and / or for the funeral to be held at Bethany Chapel, please contact the church office. As well, if you are available on short notice to assist with the set up, preparation and serving of refreshments following funeral services held at Bethany Chapel, your assistance would be greatly appreciated – please give the office a call.

 6. DivorceCare

DivorceCare is a video-led ministry coordinated by a facilitator and offered in a comfortable support group setting. The video series is a ministry of The Church Initiative / Equipping Churches for Results. Participants are offered spiritual support, assistance and encouragement as they begin the healing process following separation or divorce. DivorceCare sessions are offered at Bethany Chapel as the need arises from within the congregation. If you or someone you know would benefit from this ministry please contact the Pastoral Care team at the church.

  7. GriefShare

GriefShare is a 13 session program designed to help you recover from the deep hurt that comes with the loss of someone close to you. GriefShare utilizes three key elements to help in the healing process: a video on an issue related to grief and loss; a small support group time during which you will discuss and share on topics related to the video; and a workbook for you to go through personally between sessions. GriefShare is periodically offered at Bethany Chapel as the need arises and we encourage you to contact the church for more information.

  8. Giving Grace

Giving Grace focuses on helping families connected to Bethany Chapel or within the local community. The focus is on seeking to help meet the practical needs of each family through our dry goods supplies boxes located inside the main doors off the church parking lot, as well as the provision of Good Food Boxes through our pastoral care resources. We endeavor to make an intentional focus within our church family and surrounding community during the Christmas season each year with our “Giving Grace at Christmas” program. Volunteers are needed to coordinate this ministry in the weeks preceding Christmas and we encourage you to contact us if you are interested in helping.

  9. Prayer Chain

Prayer is a vital component of the ministry at Bethany Chapel, and the Prayer Chain is a key component of this. Requests of an urgent nature are placed on the prayer chain after permission is granted from the person requiring prayer. Each request is considered confidential and is networked throughout the prayer chain through phone calls among the Prayer Chain members. If you are interested in discussing becoming a part of this ministry, please contact the office and you will be put in contact with the Prayer Chain coordinator.

 10. Mercy Meals
Mercy Meals are frozen dinners and baking that is kept in the church kitchen freezer. They are offered to people with various needs – from new mums, to shut-ins, to those going through a challenging time financially, to people who are experiencing a loss or illness. If you know of someone with a need please help yourself to one or two of the meals in the freezer.  For inventory purposes, please indicate this on the sign-out list on the side of the freezer.  If you would like to help provide food or baking for our Mercy Meals please call the church or a parish nurse.
